New Polling Reveals Overwhelming Support for Offshore Wind
New polling conducted for Turn Forward by The Torrance Group reveals overwhelming support among Maryland voters for offshore wind projects off the coast. Across political lines, seven out of 10 Maryland voters favor the construction of offshore wind projects. The top reason given for their support was because offshore wind helps stabilize energy prices and prevents future price spikes.
A total of 81% of Maryland voters were found to oppose reversals of approved energy projects, citing concerns about job and loss and money already invested being lost.
A second reason given for support is because offshore boosts electricity supplies, but increasing the amount of electricity sent to the grid — important at a time when demand is rising. The third reason cited by voters is that offshore wind reduces pollution and helps keep our air and water clean.
Turn Forward is a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the development of offshore wind energy in the United States.
